Governor Vessel (
Du Mai
)
Course:
The Governor Vessel starts in the lower abdomen or pelvic cavity. The surface pathway emerges from the perineum at
GV 01, between the anus and the tip of the coccyx. From there it ascends along the spinal column and reaches GV 16
at the nape of the neck. An internal branch enters the brain and re-emerges at the vertex GV 20. From GV 16 the
channel continues to ascend over the top of the head, and descends over the forehead to the tip of the nose and
terminates at the junction of the gum and the frenulum on the upper lip.
